Director, Disability Services

Professor Trevor Parmenter

Trevor Parmenter commenced his career in 1953 as a primary school teacher with the NSW Department of Education. He entered the field of special education in 1964, teaching secondary students with a range of disabilities. Following principalship of a special school for students with an intellectually disability, he joined the foundation staff of Macquarie University's special education program in 1974. He established the Unit for Community Integration Studies researching community living, employment and transitional programs for adolescents and adults with a disability.

In 1997 he accepted the Foundation Chair of Developmental Disabilities at The University of Sydney and the Directorship of the newly established Centre for Developmental Disability Studies at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney.

Below is a brief description of each of our Business Stream consultants and their business background and expertises.

Professor David Stevens

Professor David Stevens is generally regarded as one of the worlds leading facilitators, particularly in value management, value engineering, risk management, partnering, project alliancing and strategic planning. He has worked on major projects including hospitals, airports, railways, highways, retail and commercial buildings. His academic qualifications include two Masters degrees and a PhD in Psychology. He is currently undertaking a second PhD in Engineering.

Areas of expertise include all facets of planning including strategy, marketing and scenario planning.

Kara Pavloff

Was most recently Director of Human Services at Cumberland Indstries and is now with Endeavour. Kara has over 10 years experience in human resource management across government, legal, and commercial organisations. She is responsible for all of the human services of the company inclusive of Quality Assurance, OHSE, Recruitment, and Training and Development of over 600 people. Kara manages the busy Human Resources Department and is supported by a team of Human Resource Officer, Safety and Rehabilitation Coordinator, Learning and Development Facilitator, HR Administrator and Learning and Development Officers. The skills of the department include, Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations, Occupational Therapy, Diversional Therapy, Masters in OHSE and Diplomas in Workplace Training and Assessment. Kara has over ten years experience within the Corporate and Disability Sectors, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in human resource management and industrial relations. She is also an accredited trainer and assessor.

Denise Apps

Was most recently Cumberland Industries Limited's Chief Operations Officer. Denise has over 25 years experience in manufacturing and packaging of food products, and 10 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Denise is responsible for the entire company operations including food manufacturing and TGA operations. All Business Managers report directly to her as well as a number of QA staff. She has completed several courses in Human Resource Management, quality systems, HACCP, QM, GMP, Food Science, and Micro Principles with the NSW Food Industry Council, and University of Western Sydney. She has also completed the Australian Graduate School of Management program in General Management.

Area of expertise include all facets of Operations for Disability Service organisations and the Food sector.
